Take the Initiative

We need to be in control of our own self and be sure that we have direction in doing so. Keep Jesus the centre of your lives. Keep the faith in season and out of season. Be a person of Virtue.

. . . add to your faith virtue . . . —2 Peter 1:5

Add means that we have to do something. We are in danger of forgetting that we cannot do what God does, and that God will not do what we can do. We cannot save nor sanctify ourselves— God does that. But God will not give us good habits or character, and He will not force us to walk correctly before Him. We have to do all that ourselves. We must “work out” our “own salvation” which God has worked in us ( Philippians 2:12 ). Add means that we must get into the habit of doing things, and in the initial stages that is difficult. To take the initiative is to make a beginning— to instruct yourself in the way you must go.

Beware of the tendency to ask the way when you know it perfectly well. Take the initiative— stop hesitating— take the first step. Be determined to act immediately in faith on what God says to you when He speaks, and never reconsider or change your initial decisions. If you hesitate when God tells you to do something, you are being careless, spurning the grace in which you stand. Take the initiative yourself, make a decision of your will right now, and make it impossible to go back. Burn your bridges behind you, saying, “I will write that letter,” or “I will pay that debt”; and then do it! Make it irrevocable.

We have to get into the habit of carefully listening to God about everything, forming the habit of finding out what He says and heeding it. If, when a crisis comes, we instinctively turn to God, we will know that the habit has been formed in us. We have to take the initiative where we are, not where we have not yet been.

PRAYERS FROM KIDS

One Sunday in a Midwest city a young child was "acting up" during the morning worship hour. The parents did their best to maintain some sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle. Finally the father picked the little fellow up and walked sternly up the aisle on his way out. Just before reaching the safety of the foyer the little one called loudly to the congregation, "Pray for me! Pray for me!"

A daddy was listening to his child say his prayer "Dear Harold". At this, dad interrupted and said, "Wait a minute -how come you called God 'Harold'"? The little boy looked up and said, "That's what they call Him in church. You know the prayer we say, "Our Father, who art in Heaven, Harold be Thy Name."
*******************************************************************
And this particular four-year-old prayed: "And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."

During the minister's prayer one Sunday, there was a loud whistle from one of the back pews. Gary's mother was horrified. She pinched him into silence, and after church asked: "Gary, whatever made you do such a thing?" Gary answered soberly: "I asked God to teach me to whistle... and He just then did!"
*********************************************************************
One night Mike's parents overheard this prayer: "Now I lay me down to rest, and hope to pass tomorrow's test, If I should die before I wake, that's one less test I have to take."
*********************************************************************
A five-year-old said grace at family dinner one night. "Dear God, thank you for these pancakes..." When he concluded, his parents asked him why he thanked God for pancakes when they were having chicken. He smiled and said, "I thought I'd see if He was paying attention tonight."
*********************************************************************
A little boy's prayer: "Dear God, please take care of my daddy and my mommy and my sister and my brother and my doggy and me. Oh, please take care of yourself, God. If anything happens to you, we're gonna be in a big mess."
*********************************************************************
A rabbi said to a precocious six-year-old boy: "So your mother says your prayers for you each night Very commendable. What does she say?" The little boy replied, "Thank God he's in bed!".
*********************************************************************
A woman invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to her six- year-old daughter and said, "Would you like to say the blessing?". "I wouldn't know what to say," the little girl replied. "Just say what you hear Mommy say," the mother said. The little girl bowed her head and said, "Dear Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"
**********************************************************************
Johnny had been misbehaving and was sent to his room. After a while he emerged and informed his mother that he had thought it over and then said a prayer. "Fine", said the pleased mother. "If you ask God to help you not misbehave, He will help you." "Oh, I didn't ask Him to help me not misbehave," said Johnny. "I asked Him to help you put up with me."

Mr Happy

Have you ever notice if you reply to people "Excellent" when they ask you"How are you today?", you get a look of disbelief or shock or a wow "Mr. Happy" today look. Well try it sometime.
It not only makes you feel good, but it makes those around you feel good as well. If you start your day with a positive outlook then your day tends to be better.

I encourage people today to try and be an encouragement rather than a downer. Be that one that says excellent!

We are excellent cause we have Jesus in our lives!

Keep on Keeping on in Jesus He is the answer for everything,

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. James 5:16

I AM NOT LAZY!!

I recently was having a discussion with someone and that someone made a comment after I said I was lazy. He said "Steve, you are one of the least lazy people I know" (not forgive me if this is not exact words). I began thinking about that and I felt quite honoured that someone would say that to me.

As I think about that and look at every aspect of myself, am I lazy? Well take at home for instance, I love to sit in my chair and climb into that nothing box and do...well you guest it nothing. Do I need to improve that? Well if I ask my gorgeous missus I am sure I would get the answer that I don't wanna hear. (ha ha)

But, if you apply this thought to every aspect of your life. Are you lazy in your romantic efforts to your spouse? Do you often romanticize each other?

One more, are you lazy when it come to your relationship with Jesus? Do you have just a Sunday Jesus or is He part of your daily lives? Are you lazy when it comes time to pray or read  your Bible? I know I can improve in all the areas.

I don't mean to be a downer, but these are some of the thoughts I have been having, now back to the nothing box!!

God Bless

THE BOX LADY

I have this certain place that I like to go. At time it is someplace where none want to tread. I find refuge there and sometime I find nothing. It is a awesome place and yet can be so scary. You can call it a round room, or a square room, or call it what you want, it is a place of escape for me.

I do find solitude there and I generally do not want anyone to join me. At times there is a knock and I may go see who it is, but usually I just hang around there by myself, not wanting anyone to invade my space there.

I have on the very rare occasion invited my lover into that box, but soon we went to another box...(you can figure that out sorry no details).

I love my little box, but no matter how much I may want to stay there I know I have to go out sometimes.

I do have another box I love to share with my special love. That is where I love to listen to her and be there for her. I love to do anything for her. She is my special box lady if you will. She is my wife, my confidant, my soul mate, my everything...

Lorie I Love you

GOD BLESS YOU TODAY

I was going to write something negative this morning and I remembered that I started this to be a positive blog. So no negative things (well I will try).
So today is Monday, a good day of the week. A new start to a work week (for some). A day you can reflect what you did on the weekend. Did you glorify God in all you did? Or did you need to repent. Well I am the latter, you wee I am not perfect (at least so I am told ha ha). I want say that no matter what you did this weekend and no matter how it turned out we do have one that forgives all. His name is Jesus. He will take what ever you did, if you ask Him to, and forgive you.

Jesus is the answer for the world today, you never know when you need him, don't let your hearts astray, Forgiveness is the key in your life when you pray, Jesus is the answer for you today. When you give you heart to Him you will find Peace and Joy.

God Bless you today.

Romans 10:9 "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved"
