HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER

I was sitting here thinking one day….when God commands me to honor my Mom and Dad, I wonder how long he says it for so I looked it up in the scriptures. Here are some of them. (This is the NASB version).

Deuteronomy 5:16
16 Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you on the land which the LORD your God gives you.

Deuteronomy 27:16
16'Cursed is he who dishonors his father or mother.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'

Matthew 15:4
4"For God said, 'HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER,' and, 'HE WHO SPEAKS EVIL OF FATHER OR MOTHER IS TO BE PUT TO DEATH.'

Matthew 19:19
19 HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER; and YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."
(Exodus 20:12; Leviticus 19:3; Matthew 19:19; Mark 7:10; Mark 10:19; Luke 18:20; Ephesians 6:2; Ephesians 6:3; Colossians 3:20)

So as I searched and read there was a common theme. Not once did I find that honoring your parents was an option. God tells us to honor your Mother and Father. It did not give a time limit.

So when you get married you don’t stop, when you move away from home you don’t stop, when you finish your education you don’t stop, there is never a time when you should stop honoring those who raised you.

There may be times when you don’t agree on something, but the honoring should never stop. God has put them there for you and commanded that we honor them.

I thank God for my Father and Mother (I call them mom and dad). I want to honor them for raising me, for their wisdom, for their counsel, and for their love.

I think it is time for us all to have a look at how we treat our parents.

So the next time you have an issue with Mommy and Daddy, before you criticize and before you argue remember what God has said to us.

Deuteronomy 5:16
16 Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you…

And when you remember that you will be able to respect them and honor them.

Thank you Dad and Mom for you love and understanding, your patience and your love. God Bless you for all you have done for me.

I LOVE YOU Mom and Dad!!!
