Amazing Facts: Santa & Jesus

Amazing Facts: Santa Jesus

YES, THERE IS A JESUS which should not be in the amazing facts category but the belief in Santa Clause should be It is truly heartwarming to know that millions of people around the world believe in Santa. Sure, most are under four feet tall, but still it's amazing that so many believe in the big guy in the red suit. Consider the following amazing facts:

Around the globe, today, live approximately two billion children (persons under 18). Santa doesn't visit all of them, of course. Subtracting the number of Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, or Buddhist children reduces Santa's Christmas Eve workload to 15 percent of the total, or 378 million children (according to the Population Reference Bureau). At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, and presuming that there is at least one good child in each home, Santa must visit about 108 million homes.

Santa has about 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 967.7 visits per second which would definitely be an amazing fact if it were true. That means that at each household with a good child, Santa has around 1/1000th of a second to park the sleigh, hop out, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left for him, and get back up the chimney, jump into the sleigh, and get on to the next house. For the purposes of our calculations, we will assume that each of these 108 million stops is evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false). We're talking about a trip of 0.78 miles per household; a total trip of 75.5 million miles, not counting bathroom stops or breaks. Too bad these are not amazing facts but fairy tales. To cover that ground in 31 hours, Santa's sleigh moves at 650 miles per second--3,000 times the speed of sound. By comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second, and a conventional reindeer can run (at best) 15 miles per hour. Scientific facts that make Santa's overnight toy delivery trip truly amazing.

The payload of the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium-sized Lego set (two pounds), the sleigh must carry over 500 thousand tons, not counting Santa himself. On land, a conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds. In air, even granting that the "flying" reindeer could pull 10 times the normal amount, the job can't be done with a mere eight or nine of them--Santa would need 360,000 of them. This increases the payload, not counting the weight of the sleigh, another 54,000 tons, or roughly seven times the weight of the Queen Elizabeth (the ship, not the monarch).

Six hundred thousand tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance--this would heat up the reindeer in the same fashion as a spacecraft reentering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer would absorb 14.3 quintillion joules of energy per second each. In short, they would burst into flames almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them and creating deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team would be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second, or right about the time Santa reached the fifth house on his trip which is a truly amazing mathematical fact.

Not that it matters, however, since Santa, as a result of accelerating from a dead stop to 650 miles per second in .001 seconds, would be subjected to centrifugal forces of 17,500 g's. A 250-pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of the sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force, instantly crushing his bones and organs and reducing him to a quivering blob of pink goo.

Considering all this, it's amazing that some children (and even a few adults) have no problem believing in Santa. By comparison, the story of the little baby in the manger is relatively easy to believe. The life of Jesus Christ is a fact, recorded not only by biblical writers but by secular historians as well. Some historians declare that there is more evidence for the birth, death, and resurrection of Christ than there is evidence that Julius Caesar ever lived at all.

Even in the face of the written testimony of eyewitnesses, many people refuse to believe in Jesus. They consider him nothing more than a myth. But for those willing to believe with childlike faith, Jesus promises an inheritance of the kingdom of God (Mark 10:14).

The above was taken from an email that has been circulating on the web. It is a powerful truth.

Immanuel - God With Us

Wow this has been an amazing year! Truly cannot believe we are close to the end of 2011.

Christmas is near there is celebration in the air. Celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus.
Pastor Joel Wells preached last Sunday on Immanuel - God With Us. It was an amazing topic. When I think about how many times this year that actually happened to my family and me. The things don't have to be big things but small things that do count. Like a lost set of keys being found after praying that they are found in Jesus name. What some might call a "close call" in the car; what I mean is you are driving and you find yourself in a situation that could end up in a accident, but you call the name of Jesus and the "close call" happens, is it because of your amazing driving skills or is it because of Immanuel - God with us.

So try to think of the many times you have had God with you in your life this year. Something you prayed about, or something you wanted but couldn't get it.

Jesus is so amazing. Keep Him the centre of your life!

Jesus Be Our Guide!

In this world there are things
Things take us to places we do not understand
Things we cannot control
We look to the One for answers
Answers may come and they may not

We contemplate and ponder
How could this day happen
We say all the "what ifs"
But in truth we can never know

We need to Rejoice for the before times
We need to Rejoice for the Now times
We need to give thanks to HIM
for we do not know

We do not understand nor know
Only have to trust in His Grand Design
Keep looking up
To the One who is in control
Jesus Be Our Guide!

Heaven’s gate

The birds sing praises the rocks will cry out
Heaven rejoices with every shout,
When a soul comes to know Him
For eternity
All the angels sing praises to the King

Welcome to Heaven’s Gate
Your mansion is laying in wait
Your mission is complete now, Faithful son
Welcome home
Welcome home

Your heart seems empty
Well fill it with joy
Sing praises to Him, shout and rejoice
Your God He loves you
He sent his Son
To lift you high the battle’s been won!

Welcome to Heaven’s Gate
Your mansion is laying in wait
Your mission is complete now, Faithful son
Welcome home
Welcome home

Come Lord Jesus come
Fill our lives with your love
Make us new with the morning dew
Our voice sings along with the birds singing
Praises to you

Welcome to Heaven’s Gate
Your mansion is laying in wait
Your mission is complete now, Faithful son
Welcome home
Welcome home

Forgivness of a Child

Wow!
An incident which impressed me deeply then and its impress has never faded happened when I was in the vicinity of ten years old.  My father had told me to go to bed.  I honestly thought he meant when I had finished a quite legitimate and proper occupation, for I was hobnobbing with a little crony of my age who had come to the house with an older person.  I remained talking with him.  My father, later passing through the room and finding that I had not obeyed him, spoke with that directness of which he was capable, called brusqueness by some, and ordered me to bed at once.  There was no standing on the order of my going after this.  I retreated, frightened and in tears, for such a tone of voice was a new experience in my life.  I hurried to bed, but before I had time to fall asleep, he was at my bedside, kneeling and asking my forgiveness for the harsh way in which he had spoken to me, the tears falling down over his rugged, bearded face.  That was nearly half a century ago, but I would exchange any memory of life before I would surrender that.  For all unknowing he was laying for me the consciousness of the Fatherhood of God, and the love of God  No sermon on the prodigal's father, and no words on the love of God have cast quite such a light as his huge figure kneeling in the twilight by my bed, asking the forgiveness of a child.

Schools

You look at this world and all the legislation surrounding schools. Thank God for Harvestcity Christian Academy!

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; my soul please take!

Amen

Great is your reward in heaven!

To anticipate the days events one must be prepared. How do you prepare for your day? Well you take it to the Lord and pray. Ask God to give you the guidance you need, put on the armour and proceed.
When you go about the day remember what the Jesus said

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.  Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
Matthew 5:3-12

Hypocrisy Versus Life

Hypocrisy Versus Life

Ye call Me master and obey Me not;
Ye call Me Light and see Me not;
Ye call Me Way and walk not;
Ye call Me Life and desire Me not;
Ye call Me Wise and follow Me not;
Ye call Me Fair and love Me not;
Ye call Me Rich and ask Me not;
Ye call Me Eternal and seek Me not;
Ye call Me Gracious and trust Me not;
Ye call Me Mighty and honor Me not;
Ye call Me Just and fear Me not;
If I condemn you blame Me not!

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:1 The English Standard Version

How many times in your daily activities have you had a bad experience that made you angry?
Think about this...do you get angry when you drive?
How about whe you are shopping and you have a grumpy clerk?
Or you phone a Customer Serivce Rep to find out something and all you get is the run around?
If you find yourself in any situation that you want to get angry try the soft answer route. It works and you will feel so much better...
God Bless your day!

The Gift

How many of us like to receive a gift?
I know I do. At that moment you get the gift nothing else matters and you feel like the most important person around.
You open the gift to find the surprise in that gift.

You know there is One who wants to give you a gift. This gift is free of charge, this gift will change your life for ever.
You know that feeling you get the anticipation you have just as you open a gift?
You can have the feeling every day when you receive this gift I am talking about.

This gift is the gift of Eternal Life. In the Bible it says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

So you see God has given us a Gift in Jesus. You accept Him and make Him Lord of your life. How do you do this you may ask.

1. Admit your spiritual need, "I am a sinner."
2. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross to take away your sins.
3. Repent. In other words, be willing to turn from your sin.
4. Receive, through prayer, Jesus Christ into your heart and life. Pray:

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my personal Lord and Savior.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

...from everlasting to everlasting, You are God!

Before the mountains were born
Or You gave birth to the earth and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting,
You are God.
Psalm 90:2

Giving God the glory for everyday "stuff" is what we need to do.
I often here things like "where has time gone?" or "Wow time has just flew by"
Well if you think about it time is constant.
We are the ones who are always in a state of change and transformation.
Take the seasons, people say that the summer has flew by, but if you think about it
the summer has been the same this year as last year, in length of time

In all the time that "flies by" we need to keep our hearts in tune with what
God wants for us.
He wants us to serve Him
He wants us to worship Jesus, our everlasting King

Psalm 48:1
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, In the city of our God, His holy mountain.

Remember through your day to Praise Him!!

God Bless

Finding Jesus

I wonder
I wonder
when I wonder do I get lost?

Can I find my way?
Can you find your way?
How do you?

Looking and finding
Finding and Looking
Don't know where to look?

Will looking find you
Will looking help you
Will looking give you the way?
No way

Looking and finding
Giving all you have
All you have give
He did

Jesus
The way
My way
Your way

No more looking
You are found

Omniscience

From the end of the age
From the beginning of the age
No where
Somewhere
Neither here nor there

Omniscience
One who is everywhere
Can he do what you desire
Think of Philip
He went from here to there

It is possible to give your love
to receive the everlasting Love
From the one
From the only One is is Omni-present

Give all to Him
He Gave all to you
Worship with your love
Worship with your heart

Jesus Almighty One
Adoration I give
Praises to My King.

Love you Jesus

Forgiven

Beyond the days that have past
Beyond the days that never last

Beyond the days that go forever
Beyond the days whatsoever

Here or there or everywhere
One can neither hide or deny
The everlasting eternal love
Of the One who is there

One before us never to leave
Here for all time
You only have to receive

A gift is a gift one from above
Take it hold it fire like a dove
Consume the fire
Let it burn

Fire of His love
Compassion for your love
Give to Him
He gave all to you

Forgiven

To know me is to love me

We can go through a day and ask this question.

Guess Who Loves You?

Do you know who loves you? Do you wonder from time to time who would be the one to stand up and say "I LOVE YOU"?
There is one in this life that differs from everyone else, yes you may have that special someone who would say he/she loves you, but in this day and age there seems to be no real love. What I mean is that the word Love is used to freely without knowing what the true meaning is.

In this world when you see one person falling in love with someone today...just Wait until they change their mind or heart and fall "out of love" with that person and "in love" with someone else. We can't seem to make up our minds.

I will forever Love my wife Lorie. I have made a commitment to her on our Wedding day. I will never change that.

But no matter how much you see love in this world there is one who has a greater love to share.

1 Timothy 1:14

14 and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. New American Standard Bible (NASB)
We have a love in Jesus that is never ending.
Keep Jesus near and love Him. He Loves you and He died for you

God Bless

Are You Truly Blessed

When all things considered are you truly blessed?
When you think of all that is going on in the world, all the places where there has been devastation, or war, or bombings, of famine. You live in Canada the richest nation on this earth.

So when you get down and out think of these place that perhaps now have nothing. YOU are blessed!!
Consider being generous like some hero's in life.

Charity begins today. Today somebody is suffering, today somebody is in the street, today somebody is hungry. Our work is for today, yesterday has gone, tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today.Mother Teresa

Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life, will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?" Matthew 16:24-26 The English Standard Version

Keep Jesus first and Centre.

The beauty of all creation shines

Over the rainbow
Under the sun
We see the glory of the only one

The beauty of all creation shines
Birds sing their song
Young deer frolich in the grass
New born babies cue at mommy or daddy

Sunset or sunrise
Awesomeness is true
Breathtaking colors
may light up the night

How can one say
God is not real
When all around
The evidence is surreal

Give Him the glory
The praise He is due
If you choose not to
The rocks will do it for you

Remember Jesus
Is the true way to Life
That is Eternal
From now forever and always

God Bless Your Day!
